At 67, Chantal Francoeur has found a new balance by combining her activities, her family commitments, and an active life in the great outdoors alongside her partner. For her, retirement has never meant slowing down, but rather reinventing her lifestyle to make it healthier and more balanced. SOSCuisine meal plans and consultations with a dietitian played a key role in this transition to a more fulfilled life.
[…] I am fully enjoying my new life as a grandmother and my farm where, with my partner, we have created a berry plantation. Between harvests and time spent with family, my life is busy. But a few years ago, things were very different. In 2015, while working in New Caledonia, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and fatty liver. This diagnosis really scared me. I was 65 pounds overweight, and coming from a family where diabetes is very present, I understood that I had to act quickly to change my lifestyle habits.
I consulted several sites including Diabetes Quebec and that’s where I found the SOSCuisine reference. My main problem was that I had no idea what was good for my health. I had several pounds to lose; I had lost weight 8 times then gained weight 9 times in my life. I was looking for an option that would help me completely change my lifestyle habits, that is to say how to cook and eat for my condition… SOSCuisine responded in an extraordinary way to my needs. At the beginning I chose the PREMIUM level of service, that is to say the meal plans, since I was already following a dietitian who also analyzed the site and judged it very good. I initially chose the diabetes meal plan, and I can say that it saved my life; I could finally find recipes adapted to my condition, which are varied, simple to prepare, and above all, tasty… And what I found even more interesting on the SOSCuisine site is that I had the possibility of choosing the country where I live, since I was living in New Caledonia at the time… It was therefore easier for me to find the necessary foods available in France to be able to prepare my recipes.
[…] Before, what prevented me from achieving my weight loss goal was following diets that were too drastic, unbalanced, to lose weight quickly… I certainly succeeded, but I also quickly regained it… The fact that I had a very demanding and stressful job, and that I had to travel regularly, also made it difficult for me… I wasn’t taking care of myself!
Thanks to this new lifestyle, I managed to lose considerable weight. Although I am still overweight, I have been able to maintain this loss for three years, which represents a first objective achieved: losing two thirds of the weight that I had to lose to escape from morbid obesity and succeed in stabilizing it. I also incorporated some exercise, which was beneficial for me. Now the current step is to lose the last third of the weight necessary to improve my quality of life, especially after surgery for a left knee replacement and due to osteoarthritis in my spine. To achieve this goal, I opted for the Mediterranean diet, which is excellent for heart health and to better manage my diabetes. That’s when I started working with a SOSCuisine dietitian (VIP Dietitian service level), because I needed support, encouragement, and advice. After just two sessions, she gave me valuable advice that allows me to continue on the path to better health.
[…] What I really appreciate about SOSCuisine is that it is a team with integrity that offers high quality services. The professionals are competent, and the recipes are original, tasty, and full of flavor thanks to spices and herbs. It was a very nice experience for me. Besides, I often share their recipes with my friends. They ask me where I find them, even if they don’t necessarily have the same needs as me, I always recommend SOSCuisine to them without hesitation!
